We have been vicims of the ash fallout at the practice with 2 of our dentists stuck abroad .However they are busy trekking across Europe by bus/train/ferry /eurostar/donkey(no not really) .We are sorry for all the cancelled appointments but as you know things were out of control for a while.

Monday morning at the practice .There are always a few emergencies from the weekend .Patients are sometimes unsure about what to do if they have a dental problem at the weekend. If they are regular patients at the practice we have an out of hours emergency service. If it is a bad enough problem to require reopening the surgery then the on call dentist will arrange that .If it is something that can wait till normal surgery resumes after the weekend the dentist will give advice as to what is best. The sort of problems that are classed as emergencies needing treatment are, pain not controlled by pain killers , swelling in the mouth or face , uncontrollable bleeding inside the mouth ,trauma to the mouth or teeth.Other problems such as a lost filling with no pain or a crown out with no pain can usually wait till next normal surgery.

Its always good to get out and do something at weekends and you may like to know what people at the practice get up to in their time off .Here is one of the dentists scaling a rock face rather than scaling some teeth!

You may have been wondering where receptionist Lisa has disappeared to.Well here she is with her new arrival when she came to pay a visit the other day .The background clutter is the ambience of our staff room and we hope Lisa will be back on front line duty one of these days but of course not just yet !

What a beautiful area Fife is .This is Tentsmuir near St Andrews in January .A cold wind blowing which is nice unless you happen to have a bit of sensitivity.Sensitivity due to gum recession is very common and can affect most age groups. The symptoms are pain with cold or acidic foods drinks and cold air .Typically the pain goes away once the stimulus is removed and does not leave a lasting pain. There are many types of sensitive tooth pastes around eg sensodyne, colgate sensitive pro relief. Also there are some treatments available from your dentist which can be very effective. Please ask your dentist or hygienist if this is bothering you.

Hi Welcome to news from Inchcape in St Andrews in Fife .A beautiful sunny but cold day here .Tuesday sees us busy with some staff on holiday and a few off with colds .We all were on a course last week for a day which was a good chance for a get together as sometimes when everyone is busy it is not easy to chat.Chris Barrow was informative and thought provoking and hopefully some of the ideas may be put into practice.
